Charles Perkins Centre University of Sydney
With its sleek, geometric appeal, reflective of the state-of-the-art functions it will support, the Charles Perkins centre at the University of Sydney (USYD) Camperdown Campus in NSW is a significant achievement for BSA.
Brookfield Multiplex appointed BSA as the design and construct contractor for mechanical services, on the $220 million project, which showcased our industry leading 3D BIM coordination, workshop processes and experience in the health and education sectors.
The mechanical system utilises gas fire chillers, thermal storage units, desiccant heat recovery air handling units and other innovative design concepts to meet the University's requirements for a leading research and education facility, with lower running costs and carbon emissions. The centre provides a combination of wet and dry laboratory spaces, new imaging and flow cytometry facilities which include live cell imaging, clinical research facilities and a bio-bank.
The project was completed in 2014.
